…was Saturday, March 22nd, 2003, and it was the day in which the first protest took place in DC after the invasion of Iraq had commenced. It was also the day that I made my first “newsicvideo” of a protest. Using my tiny, little Canon S200 digital camera, I filmed in 320X240 resolution, I recorded the protest that took place that day. After returning home, I took all the clips (I think there was in upwards of 50 or so) and I sequenced them together in Final Cut Pro and added DJ Shadow‘s “You Can’t Go Home Again” tune to the footage. The final product was a ground-breaking creation because I felt that I finally was able to get my mind around the software, and more importantly I had documented a protest from start to finish. Alas, two years later, we are still in Iraq, and over 1,500 Americans have died and probably over 100,000 Iraqi civilians….
