Today there is an interesting overlap of events taking place….
First & foremost, today is my 1 year anniversary of my job at the AAG. I must say this year has gone by extremely fast. It honestly feels like just a few months ago I was riding down the street joyfully calling my mom telling her that I scored my dream job. 12 months & $7K in taxes later, I feel I have accomplished a lot this year. Tomorrow I am going to write down a comprehensive listing of all the activities, projects, and accomplishments I’ve had undertaken in this last year. I hope to use it to justify a decent salary increase… I feel I deserve it :-)
The secondary overlap, is that tonight is the DC Statehood Green Party general body meeting. I have been nominated for both the steering committee of the DC Statehood Green Party and as a delegate to the Green Party National Assembly. To be honest I don’t know how much work I’ll have bitten off if I get elected, and for that I am somewhat nervous, but what I’ve learned thus far in my quarter century of life is that the harder a situation is, the more character is built. I think back to Operation Ceasefire (I never wrote a recap of it!), which I still regard as the hardest day of my life, yet I finished that as a changed man, and hopefully if I get elected it will also change me in a way for the better.
In regards to my previous posting about the general body meeting was actually picked up by DC Blogs. KOB (the webmaster of DC Blogs) actually violated a gentleman’s request I had with him about keeping my blog entries off of his website (I don’t want a bunch of strangers looking at my website– weird right?), yet the ironic part of it is that I’m actually happy he did so, simply because he gave free publicity to the party. I’ve only had three visitors who actually came from his website to mine, but at least they came with an intention of finding our more about the party… If you are reading this KOB, ask me first ;-)
