Star of the George Washington University
|| 12/3/2005 || 5:20 pm || Comments Off on Star of the George Washington University || ||

: rendered at 10,000 X 7,500 :

So I have made quite a few quilt renderings lately. To be honest, these multi-planar maps are my favorite to make, and because of this, I tend to make more them compared to the rest of the projections I’ve worked on.

Beginning with this rendering, I am going to relate the star of to education (be the star of your school!), and the next few will be dedicated to schools. Up next is Woodson High School in Washington, DC and following that will be my alma mater, Marquette High School. Ideally, I’d like to donate prints of these to the schools.

This is the final rendering of the series and I like it best. Comare it to Beverly Hills Quilt #2, which this rendering is the “inverse” of.

I was elected!
|| 12/2/2005 || 9:05 am || Comments Off on I was elected! || ||

Aa I stated before, I don’t know how much work I bit off, but I imagine I’ll find out shortly. At the meeting last night I was surprised to find out that there were only 5 steering committee members for the whole party. I am looking forward to being 1/5 of the folks who run the DCSGP party… The national delegate spot is probably the one I am most scared and excited about at the same time. After the meeting Adam, Scott and I went out for a drink and discussed some future plans like having a green party response at the “Sorry” State of the Union next month. In the process I found two friends of mine who will be excellent can people to out on the ballot next election cycle. I am pretty excited :)

Comparing this to #1, this “inverse” rendering shows how the confluence of the streets (basically Wilshire) nicely. There isn’t much else to say since this is the 3rd one of the series. Up next, who would have guessed? Yes that is right. #4.

1 year later
|| 12/1/2005 || 8:00 am || Comments Off on 1 year later || ||

Today there is an interesting overlap of events taking place….

First & foremost, today is my 1 year anniversary of my job at the AAG. I must say this year has gone by extremely fast. It honestly feels like just a few months ago I was riding down the street joyfully calling my mom telling her that I scored my dream job. 12 months & $7K in taxes later, I feel I have accomplished a lot this year. Tomorrow I am going to write down a comprehensive listing of all the activities, projects, and accomplishments I’ve had undertaken in this last year. I hope to use it to justify a decent salary increase… I feel I deserve it :-)

The secondary overlap, is that tonight is the DC Statehood Green Party general body meeting. I have been nominated for both the steering committee of the DC Statehood Green Party and as a delegate to the Green Party National Assembly. To be honest I don’t know how much work I’ll have bitten off if I get elected, and for that I am somewhat nervous, but what I’ve learned thus far in my quarter century of life is that the harder a situation is, the more character is built. I think back to Operation Ceasefire (I never wrote a recap of it!), which I still regard as the hardest day of my life, yet I finished that as a changed man, and hopefully if I get elected it will also change me in a way for the better.

In regards to my previous posting about the general body meeting was actually picked up by DC Blogs. KOB (the webmaster of DC Blogs) actually violated a gentleman’s request I had with him about keeping my blog entries off of his website (I don’t want a bunch of strangers looking at my website– weird right?), yet the ironic part of it is that I’m actually happy he did so, simply because he gave free publicity to the party. I’ve only had three visitors who actually came from his website to mine, but at least they came with an intention of finding our more about the party… If you are reading this KOB, ask me first ;-)

Beverly Hills Quilt #2
|| || 7:12 am || Comments Off on Beverly Hills Quilt #2 || ||

: rendered at 18,000 X 12,000 :

I simply took the 4 planes of Beverly Hills Quilt #1, duplicated them and rotated it 45 degrees.

I really like the diamond shape of the roads (as mentioned before).

Up next will be the “inverse” of Beverly Hills Quilt #1. I think it should be pretty cool looking….

I have a cursory hypothesis that NE to SE and NW to SW transfers create the exact inverse when tessellated- I should know this by now!
