Friends, Neighbors, Cartographers, and interested parties,
The weather this evening should be excellent for a
special excursion to a beautiful vest pocket park in a
historic section of Washington, DC. Sunday’s rain prevented
the event to be properly setup and tonight’s the rain date!
So after work, bring your date, housemate, partner, spouse,
or friends to a evening outing at transformed playground.
Afterwards have dinner or get drinks at one of the fine
establishments in the U Street area. It will be a great way
to enjoy the fine fall weather in store for us this evening.

A Cartographic Excursion
Earlier this year, Nikolas R. Schiller was awarded a
D.C. Commission on the Arts & Humanities Young
Emerging Artist Grant and was commissioned to
produce 8 maps of 8 locations in the 8 wards of
Washington, DC. The funding allowed for Schiller to
print three copies of each of the maps and in August,
as proposed in the grant, Schiller donated one set of
the maps to the Library of Congress’ Geography &
Mapping Division, which is the world’s largest collection
of maps, atlases, globes, and aerial photographs. On
Monday, September 25th, 2006 Schiller will be displaying
these unique maps, along with other selected cartographic
creations, at his local neighborhood playground.
You are invited to come!
