“Crédit est mort, les mauvais payeurs l’ont tué.”
“Credit Is Dead – The Ill Payers have killed”
Unknown Artist – Paris, early 1800’s
obtained from the Baker Library of the Harvard Business School
You’ve heard of Carte Blanche? Blank Cheque – an open ended deal – a line of credit. A means to buy whatever you want! Well yesterday I paid off the first credit card I ever obtained. Seven years ago in the year 2000, I used that blank cheque as cash for an emergency and since then I’ve been ‘paying to discover’ a way to kill that debt.
As a means to document this gradual ‘discovery’ I saved about 75% of all the monthly statements that came my way and placed them into a special binder. The stack of sliced discoveries is about a half inch high. A papertrail that shows my slow, lazy, and slapdash history of attempting to rid myself of that découvrir. And this ill payer has finally got his way and there will be one less piece of mail I have to open every month!
In my mind Carte Blanche can also means a completely blank map (carte also means map in French). Today I feel like the combined artist, musician, and soldier in the picture above by slaying the first debt dragon. Straight-up-northwest- Ill_ness yo!!
Jusqu’ici, tout va bien, jusqu’ici, tout va bien :: So far, so good
