By using the exact same tessellation process, I was hoping that this derivative map would look similar to Dupont Circle Quilt 2005 #2 and Logan Circle Quilt #2. Alas, I must have not used the EXACT tessellation process because the circle looks slightly different, but I am still pleased with the result. I intend on making maps of the rest of the circles in Washington, DC.

On August 1st the bridge in this map unexpected collapsed killing and injuring scores of people. Having family living in the Twin City area, I took notice of this bridge’s collapse and decided to make a map.

Park La Brea (Spanish: La Brea – The tar, after the nearby La Brea Tar Pits) is a sprawling apartment complex in the Miracle Mile District of Los Angeles, California. It encompasses more than 4,000 apartments in both high-rise and garden-style buildings, and sits on 160 acres (0.65 km2) of land with numerous lawns. It’s layout is geometric and lends itself to my map style. This is my third iteration of the series featuring the area around Park La Brea in Los Angeles, California. Its one of my favorites :-)

Redlands Quilt – 1st Derivative

This was created using a tessellated cut from Redlands Quilt #1. If you look at the zoom in to the center, you’ll see a very slight & rare error in the fabric. It’s only a pixel or two, but somehow there was a mistake made when I rendered the map. Oh well…

This was created using a tessellated cut from the Star of Redlands. It adds an interesting 3D texture that most of my maps inherently lack.
