Today we are going rock climbing at a place my mom & step father regularly climb at. On the way to the site I snapped this photograph of the burnt remains of Colorado’s largest fire, the 2002 Haymen Fire.

Poor Cucumber Flower

I want to take this cucumber plant outside and put it into the ground, but all of the other cucumber seedlings I germinated this year have been killed by birds, mammals, and insects…. Poor cucumber flower, you will get pollinated soon enough.

Photograph of pink chive buds in my backyard

About three years ago I planted these chives and every year since I’ve been either harvesting these pink chive buds & adding them to salads (they taste like an onion) or I’ve let them get pollinated, then wait a couple weeks, and harvested their tiny black seeds in order to grow more chives. I’ve read that they’ve been used throughout history as a means to naturally prevent bugs from eating different plants in the garden. In practice, however, I haven’t seem chives be very effective combating the aphids.

Agent Orange? A chemical defoliant used on my neighbor’s backyard

The photograph below shows why I maintain a container garden:

Every year my next door neighbor puts some type of chemical defoliant over his backyard so he doesn’t have to mow his lawn. I sincerely wish he didn’t….

I had a great time skiing with friends at Snow Shoe Mountain Resort! This photo above was taken from my friend’s balcony looking west from Cheat Mountain (4,848 ft), which is the second highest mountain in West Virginia.

Now that is a parking job…

I was walking home earlier and spotted this awesome parking job. I can’t believe someone would actually leave their car parked like that.

YouTube Videos & Photograph From Last Weekend’s Historic Snowball Fight In Dupont Circle
|| 2/10/2010 || 2:19 pm || + Render A Comment || ||

The video above contains four short video clips I recorded from my Canon SD750 on February 6th, 2010 in & around Dupont Circle in Washington, DC. The video clips show the what the snowball fight looked like when I arrived, a dance party, a fallen tree on New Hampshire Avenue, and an SUV pulling a snowboarder. The camera is rather beat up and there is a noticeable dark spot on camera lens– sorry!

This is my favorite video of the snowball fight. It was filmed from a building overlooking Dupont Cirlce:

At least there were no guns.

Photograph of Park La Brea Quilt no. 3 at the FRIEND REQUEST exhibition

I took these two pictures of Park La Brea Quilt #3 Friday night at the opening of FRIEND REQUEST. The map measures 60 inches by 40 inches and was printed on Epson enhanced matte paper. It is hung using Poster Hangers and is located in the meeting room on the first floor. You can actually see some of the map from outside on the sidewalk in front of 1606 17th Street, NW. It will be on display until January 29th, 2010.

Alfa Omega Tax Services….. a Change in Your Finances
|| 9/20/2009 || 10:55 pm || + Render A Comment || ||

Following up yesterday’s entry about having my name in Greek, I came across this photo I took a couple weeks ago in the Mount Pleasant neighborhood of Washington, DC. I took it because, well, umm, I like the way the sign looks chiseled, old, and how the creator used the Greek letter DELTA instead of ALPHA (err, Alfa) in their spelling. Thus the sign should read, Delta & Omega Tax Services— I guess they are not about the beginning and ending of fiscal matters, but the change thereof.

Photo of the Sandy Spring Friends School Quilt Printed on Polyester Fabric

I gave this map to the client Wednesday afternoon, but not before snapping a photograph of the final version of the map. I have to say that seeing a map on my website is a completely different experience than seeing one in person. When you are actually looking at the map, all the details come through, as opposed to viewing them on-line, where the map’s scale is reduced considerably. This map was printed at 60″ x 40″ on polyester fleece and I am quite happy how the printing turned out! I sincerely hope the final recipient enjoys it :-)

As always, send me a message if you interested in purchasing a map or having one commissioned for yourself or as a gift.
