I was inspired by this animation<\/a> of the M\u00c3\u00b6bius Transformation<\/a>. This “new map” is a camera perspective looking up at a mirrored sphere (the top) reflecting a hexagon quilt projection of the Pentagon (the bottom). I wasn’t sure what to call it at first. It kinda reminds me of the Death Star<\/a> from Star Wars. Or a new moon on th horizon. I like the way the raster forshortening looks in the bottom half because I normally don’t overproject the imagery this way. <\/p>\n
