Someday, when I have more free time, I will post the full text<\/a> of Hannis Taylor’s letter to Senator Thomas Carter. In the meantime, you can download the PDF of this document<\/a> and read that he believes the retrocession of Alexandria in 1846\/1847 was not constitutional. I originally discovered this letter in December of 2009 when I posted a newspaper article titled “Does Virginia Own Alexandria County?<\/a>” which was published in The Washington Herald the following day, January 18, 1910. <\/p>\n
