Mapping Space, Place, and new depth of Change

Geospatial Art is about new and experimental perspectives & projections of the world around and above you. With the world already charted and mapped, Geospatial Art allows you to rediscover it all over again. Like geography, the practice of cartography is both an art and a science and Geospatial Art is no different. My cartographic creations deviate from traditional cartography because they will not orient one to the right path, rather they offer many paths and many views of a place at a specific time in history.

In the summer of 2004 I began experimenting with new methods of projecting geospatial information in a 3-D environment. On a near-daily basis I created these unique maps and used my blog, titled “The Daily Render,” as a means to document this cartographic progression. In the course of the last few years I have reprojected much of urban America: downtown central business districts to state capitals to highway intersections to national monuments to myself & my home and these maps are cataloged by chronology, projection, and location.

All maps are rendered between 9,000 by 6,000 and 20,000 by 15,000 pixels, or roughly 50 to 300 megapixels, and can be printed extremely large. All maps are available at 30″ by 20″ printed on Kodak PerfectTouch photographic archival paper. Each map is custom printed, signed, and dated and all are limited to 1,000 prints. Larger maps vary in price and availablity. I also make custom maps, which are priced on projection, size, and labor. Consult my current Price List if you are interested in purchasing one of my maps.
