“Mauvaise Foi Nocturne” by Fatal Bazooka feat Vitoo |
Over the summer I created my first YouTube mash-up “Scratch Slavery,” which allows you to create a beat track to congressional hearing about slavery being used in the construction the American embassy in Baghdad.
Today I am posting something a little different- French Youtube videos.
I am not a much of a French speaker, but an appreciative listener– I took a year of French in high school and I’ve been to Paris twice and Lyon once, so I grasp about 1% of the words. But culture is not just based language (tell that to iTunes though). Some of my favorite films are in French. Heck there was also that time when I was in that Agence France Presse story where my name was mispelled (and subsequently removed from the english language syndication).
French Rap has always had a place in my heart, from the gansta rap of Suprême NTM (“Nique” being an aphesis of the verb “forniquer”, “to fornicate” meaning Nique Ta Mère :: Fuck Your Mother) to the smooth MC Solaar, I can say that I’ve been a fan for years. Lately I’ve been enjoying Teki Latex from the group TTC.
The first video is “Confessions Nocturnes” by Diam’s Feat Vitaa. Diam’s is a 27-year-old female rapper from the island of Cyprus (official flag has a map on it) who I think can rhyme quite well. Vitaa is a French R&B singer signed to Motown France.
The parody is by Michael Youn and he’s one funny comedien that can rap. His Fatal Bazooka character reminds me of Ali-G on da mic, but better. Like Sacha Baron Cohen’s other characters, his newest video, “Parle à ma main :: Talk to the hand” with French rapper Yella, has him cross dressing as his younger sister, Christelle Bazooka. F.B.I. = False Good Idea
Unlike the previous mash-up, these two videos don’t synch very well and the sound levels are off by a large degree. But I found them enjoyable to watch & listen to. The trick to watching them at the same time is to use the volume buttons– mute one, watch the other, reverse, chuckle….
Below are 4 fauxnique parodies of Tecktonik’s remix of Yella‘s “A Cause Des Garçons.” Try pressing play as fast as you can and mute all but one of the YouTubes.
….Also, sometimes the youtube videos do not load in Firefox.
I am ready for Soulja Boy now.
